The Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse said last October that ethnicity may have helped sexual predators reach victims. Conservatives in Britain have introduced “grooming gang” policies.

Commentator A.S. Ibrahim: Political correctness cripples Western countries and damages innocent individuals. Britain’s new conservative administration is tough on such offenses. “The perpetrators are groups of men, almost all British Pakistani, who hold cultural attitudes completely incompatible with British values,” U.K. Home Secretary Suella Braverman told BBC. Braverman was referring to “the most notorious grooming gang cases” when he called the predators “Pakistani,” which violates liberal cultural norms. She blamed a culture of secrecy that hinders residents from recognizing Pakistani male gangs behind such attacks.
“Victims of grooming gangs have been ignored because of political correctness,” said U.K. Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, supporting Braverman. According to the IICSA, abusers avoid prosecution due to cultural sensitivities, allowing these gangs to operate unchecked and unchallenged. Sunak said, “Political correctness must no longer prevent the police from using the ethnicity of suspects to identify grooming gangs.”
Braverman and Sunak, British Asians, exposed these gangs. Their words didn’t go well with certain British Pakistani—also Asian—citizens. BBC claims Braverman’s “racist rhetoric” emboldened bigots and endangered British Asian families. Braverman refused, and her spokeswoman stated she would “not shy away from hard truths.”
Cultural relativism—the politically acceptable idea that all cultures are good and valuable—is contradicted by this statement. Relativists generally reject cultural judgment. Cultural relativism undermines society by destroying morality and behavioural norms.
We should all hope the government finds the perpetrators and that British citizens help. Let’s eradicate political correctness together.
