China’s highest political advisory group meets standing committee 2023

On Monday, a meeting of the 14th National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), which is China’s highest-level political advisory body, took place. This was the conference’s second standing committee meeting.

Attending the inauguration meeting was Wang Huning, who is both the head of the Communist Party of China (CPPCC) National Committee and a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee.

Zhang Guoqing, a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and the vice premier, was present at the meeting and delivered a report.

In his remarks, he emphasized the need to concentrate on the most important task of high-quality development and to forge a collective force in order to ensure that the decisions and plans of the CPC Central Committee are carried out. Zhang Guoqing also attended the meeting.

Shi Taifeng, who is also a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and vice chairman of the CPPCC National Committee, presided over the opening meeting and asked political advisors to carry out thorough consultations, actively make proposals on state affairs, build broad consensus, and contribute wisdom and strength to the creation of a new development pattern and the advancement of Chinese modernization.

Shi Taifeng is also a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and vice chairman of the CPPCC National Committee.

Senior political advisors will focus their discussion during the course of the two-day conference on the topic of “creating a new development pattern and advancing Chinese modernization.” They will talk on topics such as the coordinated development of urban and rural areas, high-quality development, and upgrading the industrial system. Additionally, they will examine the modernization of the industrial system. ■
