In a statement released on Thursday, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Nasser Kanaani condemned categorically a portion of the communiqué from the meeting of the G7 finance ministers and central bank governors that raised “completely baseless and bogus allegations” against Iran.
The communiqué issued by the G7 ministers at the conclusion of their meeting in Niigata, Japan, on May 13 referred to “illicit financing risk emanating from Iran.”
The Iranian spokesman stated that the G7, its presidency, and the host of its most recent meeting are using a selective and antiquated method to impose their demands on multilateral international structures.

Kanaani also urged the G7 to reverse its “deplorable performance” and policy of appeasement in response to the unlawful US sanctions, which have violated the fundamental principles of international law and human rights against the great Iranian nation, rather than leveling such baseless accusations against Tehran.
“Instead of participation in and acknowledgment of one-sided and unfair positions, the members of the group (G7) must be held accountable before the noble people of Iran and the international community for such flagrant violations and actions that contravene international regulations,” emphasized the Iranian spokesman.
